Jaknat 5 mg is an oral tablet used for the treatment of the following inflammatory diseases: rheumatoid arthritis; psoriatic arthritis; and ulcerative colitis. It belongs to a class of drugs called Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors. JAKs are enzymes (proteins) that regulate chemical signaling pathways that control biological processes such as blood formation and the immune response that causes the pain, tenderness, and swelling of inflammation. JAKs are found in many cells, especially stem cells in bones and joints. Inhibition of JAKs by Jaknat tofacitinib tablet prevents inflammation and tissue destruction that is associated with the inflammation.
Dosage and Administration
Jaknat 5 mg is taken 2 times a day with or without food. Swallow tablets whole and intact. Do not crush, split, or chew. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take it more often than directed. Do not stop taking except on your doctor's advice. If you stop treatment for more than a few weeks there is a risk that your condition may worsen. Continue with your treatment unless advised by your doctor or unless side effects develop.

Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Jaknat 5 mg tablet and other medicines may affect each other causing side effects.
Women should inform their doctor if they wish to become pregnant or think they might be pregnant. There is a potential for serious side effects to an unborn child. Talk to your health care professional or pharmacist for more information.
Do not breast-feed an infant while taking this medicine or for at least 18 hours after stopping it.
